The Rough Guide to Afro-Asian Writers

A nation's self-awareness, sovereignty and creative power rest on its awareness of its cultural heritage.

This web site is dedicated to the revival, rebirth and creative development of the radiant, fabulously rich cultural and literary heritage of the peoples of Afro-Asia.

It is meant to provide a rough guide and short introduction of some of the important contemporary and emerging writers of Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

The limitations of the webspace available on this page force us to restrict ourselves to a much smaller selection of authors than we should wish to present. We are, however, doing our best to keep a reasonable balance between classic and contemporary representatives of Afro-Asian literature, based on their popularity as well as on the relevance of their work.

Meanwhile, we are doing our best to provide our readers with a more extensive reference guide in the near future.
